Safe, Functional Shade Cover Installed in a Complex School Setting
Baker Built was engaged by the NSW Department of Education to supply and install a large curved roof COLA (Covered Outdoor Learning Area) at Killara High School. The project required the construction of a 32m x 28m roof structure with perforated Colorbond ceiling linings, lighting, power, and an integrated PA system.
Situated between three buildings and within a fully operational school of over 800 students, the project required detailed planning and exceptional site management to maintain safety and minimise disruption. A 30m-long covered walkway had to be removed and reinstated to allow access to the work zone.
Despite encountering unforeseen ground conditions that required re-engineering, Baker Built completed the project to a high standard, delivering a robust and modern shade solution. The client has since engaged Baker Built to carry out further ceiling upgrades to adjacent areas for visual continuity.

Curved Roof COLA Construction at Killara High School
This project involved the construction of a large-scale curved roof structure in the centre of an active high school campus. With constrained access, proximity to classrooms, and live school operations, the project team coordinated heavy machinery movements from a remote compound, navigated tight spatial constraints, and delivered complex works with minimal disruption. The completed COLA significantly enhances usability of the outdoor learning area for students and staff.
