Modern Facilities Delivered with Sensitivity to a Heritage Environment
Baker Built was engaged by Blue Mountains City Council to construct a new amenities block and picnic shelter at the popular Leura Cascades site. Designed to enhance the visitor experience while respecting the natural and heritage character of the location, the works included the full delivery of structural, civil, and service infrastructure components.
The new amenities building features four toilet facilities — three ambulant and one fully accessible — with a centrally positioned communal basin overlooking landscaped surrounds. Separate to this, a new picnic shelter was constructed with a DDA-compliant park setting, picnic table, and dual electric barbecue.
Scope included service connections for potable water, sewer, and power, including trenching to connect to a sewer point 80 metres away. A new main switchboard was installed to service both structures, and all associated concrete works, roofing, fixtures, fittings, and finishes were delivered by Baker Built. A sandstone retaining wall was also constructed to integrate the new buildings with the surrounding landscape.

About The Project
Amenities Upgrade at Leura Cascades Picnic Area
Delivered in a sensitive heritage location, this project required extensive site clearing, civil works, and full construction of both an amenities building and detached picnic shelter. Accessibility, durability, and integration with the natural landscape were key priorities. The successful delivery of the project has led to Baker Built being awarded a second contract by Blue Mountains City Council for similar works at Lawson Park.
