Designed and built by Baker Built, this school infrastructure upgrade delivered a new permanent canteen, improved covered outdoor learning area, and upgraded landscaped external spaces for Tuggerawong Public School.
New Canteen & COLA Upgrade at Tuggerawong Public School
Baker Built delivered a complete design, construction and certification package for a new purpose-built canteen building at Tuggerawong Public School, together with major improvements to the adjoining covered outdoor learning area and surrounding landscaped spaces.
The works included a permanent school canteen, commercial kitchen fit-out, joinery, hydraulic and electrical services, accessible ramps and servery areas, new concrete pavements and stairs, timber stages and seating, retaining walls, handrails, balustrades, tactile indicators, murals, play markings, stormwater reinstatement and native garden beds.
The project was completed within an active school environment, requiring careful staging, secure site separation and strict safety controls to minimise disruption to students, staff and day-to-day school operations.

About The Project
Canteen & Covered Outdoor Learning Area Upgrade
Baker Built was engaged by School Infrastructure NSW to design, construct and certify a new permanent canteen facility at Tuggerawong Public School, while also upgrading the adjoining COLA and external spaces to improve student amenity, accessibility and functionality.
The canteen works included site establishment, excavation, reinforced concrete slab construction, insulated metal framing, external cladding, roofing, internal linings, commercial kitchen fit-out, joinery, hydraulic and electrical services, accessibility-compliant ramps and servery areas, and final certification through to occupation.
The surrounding outdoor works delivered safer and more practical circulation and learning areas, with demolition of existing structures, new concrete pavements and stairs, timber stages and seating, retaining walls, handrails, balustrades, tactile indicators, surface finishes, murals, play markings and landscaped garden beds with native planting.
Because the works were completed inside an operating school, Baker Built carefully staged the program, maintained site safety and coordinated works to minimise disruption while meeting WHS, SafeWork NSW, National Construction Code, EFSG and relevant Australian Standard requirements.
